Guest Speaker: Chip Townsend
Chip Townsend began his journey in martial arts at the age of 13. During his childhood, Chip was no stranger to adversity. At the age of 3, a life-altering accident caused him to lose his right eye. From that day forward, Chip has adopted a life perspective of perseverance and a belief that his disability was not a handicap. To say he is an accomplished martial artist is an understatement. He holds 14 International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) World Titles in Breaking, plus 7 ISKA World Records. He performs stunts that martial artists with two eyes struggle with or cannot fathom. He has been featured on ESPN, the Discovery Channel, and NBC's America's Got Talent. Chip is also a multi-time Hall of Fame Inductee for martial arts. It is these successes that have become a powerful platform for impacting others.
More than a martial artist, Chip is also a successful businessman. He is the owner of successful martial arts schools in Texas and Oklahoma. In 2010 his headquarters location won the prestigious Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics (Better Business Bureau) and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Business Salute. He was recently voted the Abilene Reporter News Community Hero (2018). Currently, Chip also hosts an online show entitled #ChipLive which showcases community leaders, business owners, and their personal journeys in fitness and martial arts.
Chip is a certified John Maxwell speaker and teacher. He is a highly sought-after public speaker who motivates all ages. Chip devotes many hours to community service and has been requested to speak about leadership and team building for success at local businesses and organizations, including First Bank of Texas, Communities of Abilene, local universities, and multiple events for school-aged children. He is the co-author, of Breakthrough Leadership, the TEAM CHIP Method. Recently, Chip has been a long term guest host (weekly for 2 years) on a local NBC-affiliate network, morning show #MotivateMonday.
